WORD OF THE DAY
Monday: SEDENTARY – a way of life that involves little physical activity.
Tuesday: NUTRIENTS - substances in food that your body needs.
Wednesday: INSULIN – a hormone produced by the pancreas.
Thursday: Holiday – no word
Friday: Teacher Institute Day - no word
STUDENT NEWS
Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade boy planning on coming out for basketball that could not make the meeting must see Coach Tossey prior to tryouts. All Students trying out for basketball must have a current physical on file in the Nurse’s office. No student will be allowed to tryout without a physical. Any student that wants to know if they do have a current physical on file in the Nurse’s office can see Coach Tossey. Tryouts are Oct. 15, 16, and 17 from 3:15-5:00 at Townline. You need to wear your Hawthorn PE suit for practice. We will meet in Mr. Kao’s room immediately after school. (Mr. Tossey)

Students – please remember – if you need a temporary ID, please let the homeroom helper in your homeroom know. If you need a new permanent ID, please see Mrs. Lamprich in the office.

Have you brought in your Mania permission slip and money? The Mania is less that two weeks away!!! If you pre-register you'll be eligible to try out the Gladiator Joust and Inflatable Maze at the Pep Assembly to be held that day! Extra slips are available in the office and the Art Room! Don't miss out on the fun! (Student Council)

Don't miss the opportunity to Gladiator Joust, make your way through an inflatable Maze, see Ironman, try out Dance Dance Revolution, participate in Open Gym, paint pumpkins and have loads of fun with your friends!! There are extra slips available in the office and the Art Room! Those students that pre-pay will be eligible for a raffle where you can win a chance to try the Maze or Jousting at the Pep Assembly to be held that day! Bring in your slip and $$$$ (Mrs. Ring & Mrs. Stahl)

8th grade student materials are due Wednesday, May 14. (Mrs. Horan)

6th and 7th grade students: Are you interested in becoming a Student Council Officer? Packets of information were handed out at lunch on Thursday. If you did not receive one and would like to become a Student Council Officer you can stop down at the Art Room and pick one up. (Mrs. Ring & Mrs. Stahl)

8TH GRADERS – The promotion & field trip permission forms and money are now past due. If you did not turn in your form, please do so immediately. (Mrs. Kravitz)

Dance Team members need to return your uniforms as soon as possible to Ms. Hornthal. You will not be able to participate in the end of the year activities until they are returned.

Congratulations to Mrs. Peck and the 6th grade Math Team. They were the “Math League Regional Winners” for the 2007-2008 season!

Dance Team members need to return your uniforms as soon as possible to Ms. Hornthal. You will not be able to participate in the end of the year activities until they are returned.

Hey everyone, are you planning to come to this Friday's 7:00 PM performance of Oz? I hear that there are roller blading & flying Monkeys! Well, if you are planning to come then why wait till last minute to buy your tickets?!? Beginning Tuesday April 29 cast members will be selling tickets at lunch for a dollar off the prices at the door! That means that if you buy your tickets at school on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week the prices will be: $4 for adults and $2 for children!! Prices will jump to $4.50/adult & $2.50/children on Thursday & Friday, so be sure to buy your tickets Tuesday & Wednesday!!! Tickets for Oz at the door will be $5 for adults, & $3 for children, so save some money and buy your tickets early!!
