District 128 has information about their new EXPLORE Testing process for incoming students. They have scheduled testing for next year's 8th graders for Saturday, November 14 from 8:30 to about 11:30 a.m. Most of our students will test at VHHS, since choice zone students are asked to test over there.
The communication plan document received indicates that Stevenson and Mundelein may do the same testing, though we don't have those dates.
VHHS/LHS have provided letters to distribute to current 7th grade students yet this year in an effort to help families save this date.
A Message from Anna Groh
May/June 2009
As we close the year, I’d like to encourage you to continue with our efforts of improving student writing, this summer. Looking back at the last several months of our monthly newsletters, focus has been on the Six Traits of Writing framework. In this final edition of the current school year, let’s take a look at sentence fluency and conventions. Teachers expect students to put sentences together in a writing piece so that sentence beginnings, length, and structures vary to avoid repetition. Sentences should be easy to read expressively and flow smoothly if read aloud. Finally, “conventions” refers to punctuation, spelling, grammar, capital letters, using correct indentations and spacing. See the link below for ideas on how you can continue to have your kids keep practicing their writing skills this summer! Have a safe and lively summer!
